Why Self Care is Important For Women in Business
What does self care look like to you? How do you make sure that you are looking after your soul and taking care of yourself in the midst of all your busyness. In the work that I do I have been known to forget myself but I learnt a long time ago that I need to ensure that I put my own needs before my clients needs so that I can bring my best self to every space that I enter. I know for me that self care has to be incorporated into my daily routine in such a way that sometimes I don't even label it self care, it just IS. I have activities that bring me joy and make me feel like I'm closer to God. I surround myself with things that remind me of how beautiful life is, such as my house plants (which I absolutely adore), my books even my CDs even though I rarely listen to them (thanks spotify) I will never throw them away. There are also plenty of things that I can do for free as part of this routine, anything from calling a friend who I know will make me laugh and let me just be myself completely to taking a walk in a random part of London and exploring new spaces and places. I also consider watching my favourite reality TV shows as part of my escapism and self care, The Real Housewives of Atlanta have made me laugh out loud on many occasions.I really enjoyed undertaking this interview for the Leanne Lindsey site in which I discuss self care and the importance of keeping your internal reserves high so that you are able to live your best life in all areas especially if you are a woman in business.
"By seeking fulfilment and care from external forces before seeking that same fulfilment and care from ourselves we will constantly be seeking acceptance.Self-care is putting ourselves first always in order to be the best for this world."
