How Rejection Can be Meant for Your Protection
"We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope" - Martin Luther King JrI have known rejection, tasted it, felt it, cried about it! In my business and personal life I have been let down and disappointed and yet still I have found a way to not lose hope. In all areas of life my life I have to come to terms with dealing with being rejected and it has not always been an easy lesson to come to terms with. When you want something so much but you can't have it, there is a certain level of disappointment that remains and can often tarnish how we see ourselves. All too often we make rejection mean something about ourselves, I know that I have questioned myself and indeed my value on numerous occasions when I have been faced with rejection in business and in life in general. It can cause us to become fearful too and if you fear rejection then you end up fearing progress and you'll never take risks or really fully live. But with age comes a certain level of wisdom and I have learnt that quite often a rejection can be a redirection which is meant for your protection. What we have been rejected from may not be for us and by holding on we lose sight of greater things to come. It is easy to want to hold onto the desire of the thing we have been rejected from but by doing so we block the opportunities of even better coming our way. You have to learn to respect yourself enough to know when to let go. Everything that is meant for you will come to you at the right time. When you are rejected from someone or something try to resist the urge to hold on. Let the things that are not meant for you go. Being rejected does not mean that you are not valuable, it just means that your value wasn't meant for that circumstance/situation. Learn from every experience of rejection and find a way to use the lesson to your advantage. You might need to spend time with friends & family, if you are religious pray and meditate or if you truly can't cope seek counselling to help you through those feelings of despair.
As entrepreneurs, business people or professionals we will have to face rejection at various stages of our business journeys or career paths. I hope that this video helps anyone who is struggling with an feelings of failure associated with rejection. You are not a failure, your time will come, just believe in yourself and have faith. It is not always easy, it is not always comfortable but every great journey comes with certain barriers. Those barrier are not designed to break us, those barriers are designed to lead us to our breakthroughs. Rejection can really be for your protection. I am often amazed by how resilient we are, we do not give ourselves enough credit for how strong we can be. Once we recognise our ability to overcome the disappointment of rejection and allow the focus to remain on what is good something magical happens. Trust me, you can make it...I know I have!
